Because terms vary from contract to contract, it is worth asking your insurer directly whether chiropractic services are reimbursed – and whether any co-payment applies to you.

How much is reimbursed is decided by each fund individually. Some partially contribute to the costs or cover part of the treatment – for example:

How to get reimbursed

Clarify in advance

Ask your health insurance fund before your first appointment whether a treatment billed under GebüH is reimbursed in full or in part. That way you know what to expect from the start.

Doctor's recommendation

Some funds require a doctor's letter of recommendation for reimbursement. Ask whether such a recommendation is needed in your case.

Supplementary insurance

A private supplementary insurance that includes chiropractic care can be worthwhile – especially if you are planning ahead and want to save on costs.

Changing funds

As a statutorily insured patient, you can check whether switching to a fund with better chiropractic benefits is worth it. Changing funds is usually straightforward and quick.
